When To Update Your Chemical Inventory
The Chemical Inventory System (CIS) was launched in December 2014. CIS replaces the obsolete 4D/Citrix-enabled database. Most information stored in the old database has been uploaded into CIS. Chemical inventories for each lab are now accessible by logging into CIS using CalNet credentials.
- Chemical inventory records must be updated and certified annually. In addition, they must be updated within 30 days of any significant changes to the inventory, such as a room relocation, additions of large amounts of new chemicals, or changes in the names and phone numbers of key contacts.
- Inventories that were updated in the old database do not need to be updated in CIS until a year has passed. For instance, if an inventory was submitted to the old database in October 2014, it doesn’t need to be updated in CIS until October 2015.
