Lab Coat Storage Options

What are some lab coat storage options when space is an issue?

Space is tight for most labs on campus and the recent acquisition of multiple lab coats for every lab member is underscoring the issue. Clean lab coats can be folded and put away in a drawer until needed (remember to label the drawer for easy retrieval). Here are some storage options:

About PPE Fitting

The PPE fitting room is where EH&S fits new researchers for lab coats and eyewear, as well as where PPE is picked up post-appointment. Previously, appointments were held in University Hall.

Respiratory Protection

EH&S evaluates workplaces for possible airborne hazards and recommends ways to reduce these hazards when found. When appropriate, EH&S will fit campus workers with respirators and provide annual training on their proper use. This program is administered in cooperation with University Health Services. UHS evaluates a person's ability to safely wear a respirator prior to a respirator being issued. For more information contact EH&S at ehs@berkeley.edu.

Lab Hazard Assessment Tool (LHAT)

Lab Hazard Assessment Tool (LHAT) is a web-based application that enables researchers to identify hazards in their labs or research areas. Upon completion of LHAT, you will receive a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) recommendation voucher—based on your lab’s assessment—that will make you eligible for the EH&S free PPE giveaway program.
