Keeping EH&S Applications Secure
EH&S has implemented temporary security parameters to reduce vulnerabilities across our applications. In order to use EH&S applications, you will now need to either
- be on campus (wired or wireless connection) or
- use the bSecure Remote Access / GlobalProtect VPN.
The Remote Access VPN (Virtual Private Network) service allows CalNet ID–authenticated users to securely access the UC Berkeley network from outside of campus, as if they were on campus, and encrypts the information sent to the network. The VPN service allows authorized users a way to connect into the campus network in order to access resources generally unavailable to users not on the campus network.
This means you will receive a 403 error and will be unable to access EH&S apps if you use a home or mobile device without being connected to the bSecure Remote Access VPN.
Install the bSecure VPN on your device
UC Berkeley uses Palo Alto Networks GlobalProtect software for the bSecure Remote Access VPN service. Take steps to install and start using bSecure VPN today.
Trouble accessing an EH&S application with bSecure VPN?
Try using the Full Tunnel/Library Access gateway option while connected to the VPN. For more info, see here.
Thank you for helping keep Campus networks secure.
