Safety Data Sheets (formerly MSDS)
Safety data sheets are the best source of information regarding the hazards, emergency response, and protective measures for any hazardous material.
Manufacturers are always the most reliable sources for SDSs, and the UC system has provided its researchers with ucsds.com, a systemwide website created to help locate SDSs and other chemical safety information.
The primary SDS source for ucsds.com is RightAnswer. RightAnswer must be accessed from a recognized UC campus computer, and requires a brief one-time registration process. Users must register using a @berkeley.edu email address. EH&S has provided a quick, helpful tutorial video on how to register and use RightAnswer.
In addition to RightAnswer, ucsds.com allows users to utilize a customized Google search designed to quickly locate an SDS. This resource functions like any regular search engine.
Please contact Russ Blackmar at email@example.com with any questions regarding SDSs.
