In compliance with state laws and regulations, this multi-faceted program aims to reduce the sources of hazardous waste generated by the campus through waste minimization measures that include comprehensive educational programs, substitution of toxic chemical and cleaning agents, change in experimental procedures to use less volume of hazardous chemicals and/or reduce volume/toxicity of chemicals as final steps in process, and surplus chemical exchange. If you would like to include source reduction and waste minimization in student and employee training sessions, contact Pat Goff at (510) 642-1925.
EH&S offers no-cost training on minimizing hazardous waste to campus departments.
