8/17/09 MANDATORY TRAINING: WORKING WITH HAZARDOUS MATERIALS IN LABORATORIES:
Laboratory Safety for New Graduate Students and Employees

The Fall 2009 schedule of mandatory safety training sessions for new
graduate students and employees who work in campus laboratories is now
available and posted below.

Any other interested students, staff, and faculty are welcome to attend
these classes, though the material presented is of particular interest to
Principal Investigators, Department Safety Coordinators, Laboratory
Managers, and Laboratory Safety Officers.

Please direct any new graduate students and employees in your department or
laboratory to attend. Instruct them to enroll at the UCB Learning Center,
which is available through the Blu portal after CalNET authentication:

Once in the UC Berkeley Learning Center, use the search box to find the
class titled "Laboratory Safety for New Graduate Students and Employees."
Individuals are welcome to sign up for any class that best fits their
schedule.

Since the UC Berkeley Learning Center is available only to employees with
current CalNet IDs, please instruct non-employees to reply to Steve
Maranzana, EH&S Assistant Manager, stevemar@berkeley.edu, with the following
information:

1. Name and department
2. Session of choice
3. Number attending

Following is the Welcome Week 2009 schedule of offerings. Additional, post
Welcome Week classes are scheduled once per month and are also available for
registration at the UC Berkeley Learning Center.
